ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IS LIE

"All Turkish children also should be killed

as they form a danger to the Armenian nation"

Hamparsum Boyaciyan

armenian genocide lie

INTRODUCTION

As a bridge between Asia and Europe, with its straits connecting The Black Sea with the Mediterranean and its geopolitical situation at a point where the Central Asian, Caucasian and Middle Eastern natural energy sources intersect, Turkey draws the attention of the entire world.

The Ottoman Empire in the past and Turkey at present has always been an arena for which intrigues were incessantly designed. The colonialist superpowers wishing to eradicate the Ottoman Empire from the world by dividing it did not fail to use in their schemes also the Armenians who coexisted in peace with the Turks for so many centuries.

There are today just like in the past, several countries striving to secure themselves political and economic benefits at the expense of Armenian community. Monuments accusing Turks and Turkey of having committed genocide are being erected in some countries; decisions intending to recognise the so called genocide are brought into the parliamentary agenda in several countries and even voted for in some others. Issues that need to be left to historians are turned into means of self interest by the politicians.

The Armenians who were ousted from one place to the other, pushed into wars, and treated as third rate citizens throughout the history by the Romans, Persians and Byzantines. After the advent of Turks into Anatolia, they benefited from the just, humane, tolerant and unifying traditions and beliefs of their new neighbours. The period that lasted until the end of the nineteenth century when the apogee of these developments and relations was attained, was the golden age of Armenians. In fact, the Armenians were by far the greatest beneficiaries of the opportunities offered by the Ottoman Empire to all industrious, capable, honest and straightforward citizens of the non-Moslem communities. Being exempted from the military service and to a large extent from taxation, they had the opportunity to excel themselves in trade, agriculture, craftsmanship and administration and therefore were rightly called the “loyal nation” because of their loyalty and ability to interact with the Ottomans. There were so many Armenians who spoke Turkish, who even conducted their rites in this language , who rose to topmost public service posts such as the Ministries and Under-Secretariats of State for the Public Works, Navy, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Treasury, Posts and Telegraph and Minting. There were some who even wrote books in Turkish and foreign languages on the Problems of the Ottoman Empire .

With the start of the decline of the Ottoman Empire, the European powers began to intervene in its affairs and degeneration became evident in the peaceful Turkish-Armenian relations. Great effort was displayed by the instigators whom the Western powers planted into the Ottoman Empire under clerical guise, to create a schism between Turks and Armenians in the religious, cultural, commercial, political and social fields. Thus, bloody clashes arose, in which the blunt of pain was borne by the Turks, and thousands of Armenians and Turks lost their lives in the revolts that broke out in Eastern Anatolia and spread all the way to Istanbul.

Though there were many Armenians fighting in the Ottoman armies against the enemy or serving in the rear ranks during the World War I, a considerable number had sided with the foes on the battlefronts and launched massacres against the population without distinction of women, children and the aged. Their toll was hundreds of thousands of Moslems and ruin in Eastern Anatolia.

The measures adopted by the Ottoman Empire to stop this violence were presented to the rest of the world under a completely different light and the Armenians, misguided by the promises and instigation of the Western Powers started to undermine the country where they had led a privileged life more than a thousand years.

The Hinchak, Tashnak, Toward Armenia, Young Armenians, Union and Salvation, Ramgavar, Paramilitaries, Black Cross societies and Hinchak Revolutionary Committee, which were established out of Anatolia, formed organisations urging the people for an armed revolt. These activities were the bloody uprisings that cost thousands of Turkish and Armenian lives.

During World War I, the Ottoman Empire was fighting against Russian armies in Eastern Anatolia, where the Armenian revolt was at its peak; and also against Armenian forces which supported the Russians. On the other hand, behind the lines it had to continue to fight against Armenian guerrillas that were burning Turkish villages and towns and attacking military convoys and reinforcements. In spite of this violence, the Ottoman Empire tried to solve the Armenian problem for months by taking local measures. Meanwhile, an operation was made against the Armenian guerillas and 2345 rebels were arrested for high treason. When it became evident that the Armenian community was also in rebellion against the state, the Ottoman Empire proceeded with the last resort of replacing only those Armenians in the region who actively participated in the rebellion. With this measure, the Ottoman Empire also intended to save the lives of the Armenians who were living in a medium of civil war because Turks started to counter-attack the Armenians who had performed bloody atrocities against Turkish communities.

Today, Armenia and some states using Armenians for their economic and political benefits have launched a massive propaganda campaign to present the replacement decision and the 24 April arrests as genocide to the world public opinion.

At the end of the World War I, when the armies of Allied States occupied The Ottoman Empire and the British officials among them arrested 143 Ottoman political and military leaders and intellectuals for “having committed war crimes toward Armenians” and exiled them to Malta where a trial was launched. However, the massive scrutiny made on the Ottoman, British, American archives in order to find evidence to incriminate these 143 persons failed to produce even the least iota of proof against them. In the end, the detainees in Malta were released without trial and even any indictment in 1922.

The United States archives contain an interesting document sent to Lord Curzon on 13 July 1921 by Mr. R.C. Craigie, the British Ambassador in Washington. The message was as follows: “I regret to state that there is nothing that may be used as evidence against the Turkish detainees in Malta. There are no events that may constitute adequate proofs. The said reports do not appear to contain even circumstantial evidence that could be useful to reinforce the information held by His Majesty’s Government against the Turks.”

On 29 July 1921, the legal advisers in London decided that the intended indictments drawn up against the persons on the British Foreign Ministry’s list were semi-political in nature and therefore these individuals should be treated separately from the Turks detained as criminals of war.

They also stated the following: “No statements were hitherto received from the witnesses to the effect that the indictments intended against the detainees are correct. Likewise it does not need to be restated that finding witnesses after so long a time is highly doubtful in a remote country like Armenia which is accessible only with great difficulties.” This statement was made also by none other than the legal advisers in London of His Majesty’s Government.

Yet, the efforts to smear the image of Turks with genocide claims did not come to an end as the British press published certain documents attempting to prove the existence of a massacre claimed to have been perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire while efforts were being made to start a lawsuit in Malta. It was stated that the documents were found by the British occupation forces in Syria, led by General Allenby. The inquiries subsequently made by the British Foreign Office revealed, however, that these documents were fakes prepared by the Armenian Nationalist Delegation in Paris and distributed to the Allied representatives.

The Armenian Diaspora, who left no stone unturned to keep the genocide claims on the agenda despite all these facts, resorted to terrorism in the end. The so-called Armenian issue, which started to attract the attention of the world and Turkish public opinion through the smearing campaign launched by the Armenians against Turkey after 1965, in the ‘70s turned into terrorist attacks directed against the Turkish representations abroad. In Santa Barbara on January 27, 1973, the first individual terrorist attack was launched by an aged Armenian named Gurgen (Karekin) Yanikian. He murdered Mehmet Baydur and Bahadir Demir, the Turkish Consul General and Vice Consul in Los Angeles, and these murders turned into an organised campaign after 1975. The attacks against Turkish embassies, officials and institutions abroad gradually intensified.

A major increase in the attacks was noted after 1979 when an internal unease started in Turkey. The Armenian terrorists staged a total of 110 attacks at 38 cities of 21 countries. 39 of these acts were committed by small arms, 70 of them were realised by bombs and one was an outright occupation. 42 Turkish diplomats and 4 foreigners were killed and 15 Turks and 66 foreigners were wounded in these incidents.

As these actions received a strong reaction from the world public opinion, the Armenian terrorist organisations changed their tactics in 1980 and began to co-operate with the PKK terrorist group which was pushed into the scene by the Eruh and ªemdinli attacks as the ASALA and Armenian operations were stopped. The documents and evidence from Beqaa and Zeli camps show that the PKK and ASALA militants were trained there together.

The success achieved by the Turkish security forces made the Armenian terrorism pursue the so called genocide claims through the Armenian Diaspora and attempt to make the world believe in the existence of such an event by inducing several parliaments to adopt resolutions and laws which recognise it.

The goal of these terrorists is to plant into minds of people the existence of a genocide, to force Turkey to recognise it, to receive indemnity from Turkey and, finally, to snatch from Turkey the land needed for realising the dream of Great Armenia

ARMENIAN REVOLTS AND MASSACRES

In the period that followed the Berlin Treaty, the Armenian issue developed in two directions, The first is the interventions made by the Western powers in the affairs of the Ottoman Empire, and the second is the clandestine organisation and rearmament of Anatolian, Syrian and Thracian Armenians in various parts of Anatolia, particularly in Eastern Anatolia and Cilicia.

The initial provocations started coming from Russia. This attitude induced the British and French Governments to display a greater interest toward Armenians. British Consulates mushroomed in Eastern Anatolia and large numbers of Protestant missionaries were dispatched to this region.

As a result of these activities, several Armenian committees were formed in Eastern Anatolia from 1880 onward. These committees that remained at local level failed and withered away in time because the Armenians who lived in welfare and did not have any complaints against the Ottoman Empire were not interested in the committees.

When the plans to make the Ottoman Armenians revolt against the State through the committees failed, the Russian Armenians were encouraged to set up such committees out of the Ottoman Empire. Hinchak was founded in Geneva in 1887, with socialist tendencies and moderately militant ideas and Tashnak was established in Tbilisi in 1887, with extremist, terrorist and revolutionary attitudes favouring armed struggle and full independence. The goal imposed on these committees were the “salvation of Anatolian land and Ottoman Armenians”.

The revolt attempts launched by the Hinchaks that extended its organisation into Istanbul and aimed at provoking the Ottoman Armenians by drawing the Western attentions on the issue, were followed by those of the Tashnaks. The common features of the both groups were the fact that they were planned and oriented by the committees that came to the Ottoman Empire from abroad and that they were largely supported by the missionaries spread all over Anatolia.

The first revolt broke out in Erzurum in 1890, followed by the Kumkapi demonstration in the same year. These revolts were followed by 1892 and 1893 Kayseri, Yozgat, Çorum and Merzifon incidents, 1894 Sasun revolt, 1894 Sublime Porte demonstration and Zeytun mutiny, 1896 Van revolt and the occupation of Ottoman Bank the same year, the second Sasun Revolt in 1903, the 1905 attempt to kill Emperor Abdulhamid and the Adana revolt in 1909.

By far the greatest damage given to Turks by the Armenians were the massacres perpetrated during World War I. During this period, the Armenians acted as spies for the Russians, evaded the mobilisation orders by hiding, and those that were in the Ottoman army collectively committed high treason by joining the Russian forces taking their arms with them.. The Armenian gangs that had already started attacks on the Turkish villages, with the start of the war massacred, among others, the entire women, children and the aged inhabitants of Zeve village of Van Province.

The quelling of these revolts by the Ottoman army was presented to the world as a massacre of Armenians by the Moslems and thus the issue acquired a larger international dimension. In fact, the British and Russian diplomatic reports of the time state that the goals of Armenian revolutionists were to create social chaos against which the Ottoman army would react and to thereby ensure the intervention of Western powers in the situation. It seems that these goals were reached and the diplomatic and consular representations of the Western States, with the assistance of Christian missionaries spread all over Anatolia, played a major role in the transmission of the Armenian propaganda to the Western public opinion.
A SHORT REVIEW OF ARMENIAN HISTORY

The racial origins of the Armenians and the geography in which they lived are still debated today. It is certain, however, that they have always been the subjects of other states throughout history.

The encyclopædias state that Yerevan, Lake Sevan, Nahkichevan, north of Rumiah Lake and Maku region were called “Armenia” which meant “ upper lands” and the people living there were named Armenians.

Some of the Armenian historians claim that they are descendants of the Hittites who lived in Cilicia and Northern Syria in the 6th century AD, while some others bring the genealogy to Haig, one of Noah’s sons. There is no certainty about exactly where the community referred today as Armenians settled and lived in the geographical region called Armenia. Their population and the percentage of their population to other groups that lived in the same area are still a mystery.

Thus, even the Armenian historians are not unanimous as to their origin. It may therefore be stated that it is impossible for a community that has never had the privilege of being a nation and founding an independent state, to have claims on a certain geography as “a homeland”. Consequently, the dream of Great Armenia is but the product of an expansionist ideology.

As the history went, the Armenians lived under the Persian, Macedonian, Seleucide, Roman, Partian, Sasanite, Byzantine, Arabian and Turkish hegemonies. In fact, all of the Armenian principalities known to have existed in the region were established by the sovereigns that controlled the region in order to draw this community into their sphere of influence and employ them in a variety of tasks.

The Selchuks saved the Armenians from the Byzantine persecution and offered them the opportunity of leading a decent life when they secured the control of Anatolia in 1071. Under the reign of Mehmed II, freedom of thought and belief was granted to the Armenians and the right to establish a patriarchate of their own for governing the community’s religious and social activities.

The Armenian Patriarch had the power of appointing and dismissing clergy members, banning the religious rites, collecting dues from the community, concluding the marriage formalities and even pronouncing imprisonment decisions.

Until the end of the 19th century, the Armenians lived their golden age under the Ottoman rule, also with the vast tolerance of the Turkish people. Having been exempted from military service and of most of the taxes, they excelled in trade, agriculture, artisanry and rose to major posts in the administration. For the services that they rendered to the Ottoman Empire, the Armenians were allowed to settle in the regions vacated after the Greek rebellion and were given the prestigious title of “the faithful nation”.

It ensues from the foregoing that there was not any Armenian issue until the end of the 19th century nor were any problems that the Armenian citizens could not solve with the assistance of Turkish administration.

APRIL 24, 1915

Regarding these revolts and massacres, the Ottoman Government merely declared to the Armenian Archbishop, deputies and community leaders that appropriate measures would be implemented if the Armenians did not stop massacring the Moslems. However, the intensification of the events, the increase of attacks against defenseless Turkish women and children and the war that waged on several battlefronts all at the same time necessitated to secure the rear lines.

The first move adopted on April 24, 1915 was to ban all Armenian committees and to arrest 2.345 leaders for crimes against the State. The date of April 24, commemorated by the Armenians abroad as the anniversary of genocide against Armenians, is the date of these arrests and has nothing to do with the replacement.

The Etchmiasin Patriarch, a priest named Kevork, sent the following cable to the United States President upon this move:

Mr. President, according to the latest news received from the Turkish Armenia, a massacre started there and an organised terror has put the Armenian lives in danger. In this precarious moment, I am addressing to the noble sentiments of the great American nation and ask you to intervene immediately through your Great Republic’s diplomatic representation for protecting my people left to the mercy of the violence of Turkish fanaticism, on behalf of humanity and Christian belief.

Kevorg, Ecumenic Patriarch of all Armenians.

This cable was followed by the Washington contacts of the Russian Ambassador.

The incident here was merely the banning of Armenian committees and the arrest of the culprits. Yet, the Armenians endeavoured to display it as a massacre and to rally the United States and Russia into their ranks.

ATAKHAN PASHAYEV,
HEAD OF THE STATE ARCHIVES AT THE CABINET OF MINISTERS OF THE AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC

As far back as in the IV century Armenians lost their statehood. Within 1500 year period they tried to re-establish it. But all in vain. The true nature of Armenians was well known to Byzantines, that joined Byzantine Empire at times. If there were not settlement of Turks in Anadolu in the XI century Armenians would have a crash of their nation. It is interesting, that these facts were reflected in Armenian sources in detail, too. Same sources point out the contribution of Turk to the formation of Armenians as nation. After Turk’s coming to Anadolu Armenians had become free of military obligations. Armenians received rights to open their own schools, to establish churches and to use their own language. As Armenians were experienced in trade affairs they soon managed to be involve in commerce in Turkey, later on they managed to involve in economy, too. Soon, they displayed their malevolent character and opposed Turkey. They dreamt the creation of the "Great Armenia" on the territories of Osman Turkey. For this purpose they appealed to the European states at first. But it was in vain and then they addressed to Russia.

Armenians misused ingeniously of Tzar Peter’s I ideas of invasion to Southwards as well as his wishes to possess Southern Seas. It should be pointed out that Armenians contributed mostly to the coming of Russians to Caucasus. Armenians supported Russians by all means during Russian - Iranian and Russian - Turkish wars. Later on, as a compensation for that Armenians got from Russians everything they wanted. Armenians were empowered to be leaders in Turkish cities, regions and villages occupied by the army of the Tzar. Misusing given authorities to Armenians, they began to pursue a policy of genocide.

At the beginning of XIX century peace agreements were concluded between Russia and Turkey and Russia and Iran. Soon 86.000 ethnic Armenians from Turkey and 40.000 ethnic Armenians from Iran migrated to our territories — Western Azerbaijan presently named Armenia. A region was also conferred to Armenians who settled on the territories of Iravan, Nakhchivan and Karabakh Khanates. Later, several times Russian writer A. Griboyedov, who played a prominent role in the sphere of resettlement of Armenians in Caucasus mentioned Armenians as a treacherous nation. It seems that, Russians guessed the prime purpose of Armenians at first. That is why in 1846 while establishing a province governing method the Armenian region was abolished.

We could divide a policy of Armenians in Caucasus into two stages (lasting from beginning of XIX century till now): - from 20-30s to 80-90s strengthening of their positions on the territories of Azerbaijan; - beginning from 90s of the X I X century — claiming to the territories of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Another issue is too very important. On Caucasus in 1887 Armenians created "Gnchak" Party and in 1890 "Dashnaktsutun" Party. From that time their territorial claims systematically increased. Armenians used every possible means to make true their idea of creation of the "Great Armenia" in the Eastern provinces of the Osman Empire and on Caucasus populated by Turks and Azeris.

In 1905-1906 they committed massacre in Baku. Later a Governor of Elizavetpol wrote in one of his letters that Armenians misused a chance and established borders on the territories of Azerbaijan where they lived together with Muslims. In some places they even exiled Muslims and populated their lands by Armenians migrated from Iran and Turkey. In 1906 a meeting of the Azeri and Armenian representatives was held. This meeting chaired by I. Vorontsov-Dashkov discussed issues of reconciliation. While opening meeting I. Vorontsov-Dashkov proposed not to look for guilty parties. There is an interesting fact that in 1988 M.S.Gorbachev, ex-leader of the USSR said the same words while opening a meeting. The Armenians were always in guilty. But they had always been justified.

The World War I gave the best opportunities for Armenians to make their ideas true. A participation of Turkey in that War and the opening of Eastern front gave a chance to Armenians to do everything they wanted. Russian troops of Eastern front that consisted of many Armenian groupings and divisions battled against Turks. As a preventive and protective measures leadership of Osmanly government forced to move aggressive Armenians from front Sine of Eastern Anadolu to the other places of the Empire. Armenians presented those measures like a policy of genocide and launched an agitation campaign against Turks worldwide. That campaign is still in force.

A collapse of Tzarism in Russia and a victory of the October Revolution gave a new impulse to the idea of Armenians to establish their own state. Eastern front was full of Armenian soldiers after Russia had left the war. Even during the war Armenians stole a lot of ammunitions and guns and transmitted everything confidentially to the territories of Azerbaijan, concentrating it mainly in Karabakh and Shamakhy. S. Shaumyan was appointed by V. Lenin as a Commissioner for Caucasus. Thus, S.Shaumyan came in Tiflis and was forced to leave the city in the same day. Nevertheless, in Baku Shaumyan was welcomed and even elected a Chairman of the Council of People's Representatives. Using his post Shaumyan did not permit to disarm Armenian dashnak groups coming back from front to Baku. It were the same Armenian groups which in March 1918 massacred Azeris. Shaumyan headed 6.000 soldiers and officers. Dashnaks headed 4.600 of them. It is necessary to point out that 70—80% of Soviet Army troops invaded in Baku in January 1990 comprised Armenians. In I918 Armenians saw a good possibility to occupy Baku. They began to look for suitable reasons to make their plans true. A long-lasting process of negotiations was held. Azeris did not want to be involved into a military conflict with Armenians. Finally, Armenians found a reason using an accidental death of a son of Zeynalabdin Tagiyev. They ordered to disarm representatives of Muslim division coming back from mentioned funeral in Baku. Representatives of division did not want to be disarmed. It was a weighty reason for Armenians to began comprehensive massacre of Azeris in Baku. At the same time Armenians attacked Azeris in the Garabag region and other regions of Azerbaijan.

Our archives has "Events of March" book of Mammad Muradzade. During that period he was 17 or 18 years old. This book published in 1919 is very heart-touching. An author describes in an expressive way all scenes he witnessed. Armenians murdered his father and uncle at first. Then they killed his relatives. This young gentleman together with his two brothers could survive in a house of Jewish man. After conciliation on April 1 he began to look for his mother and reach Mayilov Theatre. Among persons leaving the Theatre author saw his mother. He followed her along a street full of Armenians. They were asking whether they became the possessors of Caucasus or not. It was not possible to suffer such insulting words of Armenians - the minority of the Baku population. In Baku Armenians created such conditions that did not give possibilities for some civilians to find out corpses of their relatives. A blood of innocent Azeris was like a puddle in the streets. In his book author blames ourselves, because

Azeris themselves have always been trusting Armenians. It is a fact that Armenian killers were headed by Shaumyan. Along with accidents in Baku Armenians committed outrageous crimes in Shamakhy as well. The greatest number of persons murdered by Armenians belongs to Shamakhy. Shamakhy city was completely destroyed. Its 86 villages out of 120 were completely destroyed too. Our archives has a documents prepared by Ad - hoc Research Commission. These documents indicate exact numbers of persons murdered in villages of Shamakhy. A number of civilians murdered in 53 villages is about 10.000. Exact number of those killed in Shamakhy was not defined. After 1920 different numbers are given in immigration literature. One source informs about 12.000 killed Azeris, another one about 17.000. There even were such families in Shamakhy that were completely murdered.

After Shamakhy Armenian gunmen moved towards Guba. S. Shaumyan had ordered to bolshevik Korganov and the last one sent 2000 armed Armenians headed by dashnak Amazaspan to Guba. They committed many crimes and killed thousands Azeris.

Later on, severe atrocities against Azeris were committed by Armenians in Zangazur and Karabakh. Before October -November 1918 Armenians killed 10.000 persons in Zangazur and destroyed many Azeri villages.

First Decree of newly established Azerbaijan People's Power (Jumhuriyyat) was devoted to the creation of Ad - hoc Commission aimed at investigation of crimes committed against Azeris during the World War 1st. On August 31, 1918 such Commission was established. It began its activities headed by Alakbar bay Khasmatov. Later on the Commission sent to the delegation of Azerbaijan in Paris 95 photos and 6 volumes of investigation materials. Unfortunately, neither those materials nor photos survived. During its activities Ad-hoc Investigating Commission prepared 36 volumes (more than 3500 papers) of investigating materials. Majority of those materials are being kept in our archives.

After incidents in Guba, the head of the city met with A. Japaridze and S. Shaumyan. Giving the explanations he said that Japaridze was informed in details of those incidents. He gave serious attention to mentioned issues. S. Shaumyan's attitude was with mockery. He considered a death of 5-6 Muslims as a nothing serious.

Ad-hoc Commission on Investigation prepared papers necessary to institute criminal proceedings against Armenians guilty in different crimes against Azeris. But later on all investigations on national conflicts were over. It was done because of amnesty proclaimed by Jumhuriyyat Parliament with an aim of the de-facto recognition of Azerbaijan at the Paris Peace Conference in January 1920. A victory of the Soviet Power in Transcaucasia gave nice possibilities for Armenians to misappropriate territories of Azerbaijan.

In Soviet times Armenians had always been pursuing two purposes. The first one was to force Azeris to migrate from present Armenian territories. The second one was to increase their own land on the account of the territories of Azerbaijan. Both of their ideas were successful.

All our new troubles are caused by our short memory. Azeris forget very quickly their past tragedies. We completely forgot tragedy of March 1918 and other incidents. We should not delete from our memory occurred tragedies in order to prevent the future ones.

Corresponding Decrees of Mr. Heydar Aliyev, our President (from December 18, 1997 and from March 26, 1998) arc of great importance. Those Decrees are our instructions. They embrace all spheres of necessary work to be done. I think that one of our main commitments is to inform the world community about tragedies of Azeris and to expose a real nature of Armenians.

The Real Genocide of the Armenian people

The Real Genocide of the Armenian people

There was indeed a genocide of the Armenian people. As Sam Weems explains, from his "Armenia: Secrets of a 'Christian' Terrorist State"; using the history of Richard Hovannissian as a basis: The real Armenian genocide was caused by the Armenian peoples' "own dictator leaders."

Is this a fair assessment? Consider: The Armenian Republic was established in 1918, and there were problems of tremendous magnitude. Instead of attending to the much needed task of nation building and care of the many who who were suffering beyond belief, the fanatical leaders pursued their own direction of greed, immediately and opportunistically seeking others' lands. They attacked Georgia. They attacked Azerbaijan. They provoked Turkey and prepared for an attack (as Armenia's first prime minister, Hovhannes Katchaznoni outlined in his 1923 manifesto), at a time when warring should have been the last thing on their minds. Whatever resources that were to go to the people, the corrupt leaders evidently did what they could to line their own pockets. These are the factors that directly contributed to Hovannisian's conclusion: "In 1919, for each 1000 persons in Armenia there were 8.7 births and 204.2 deaths, a net loss of 195.5. It was verily a land of death."

From Chapter Five (with material immediately preceding to be found here), Armenians Seek Free Handouts From the Christian World; the book referred to is Richard G. Hovannisian's The Republic of Armenia, Volume I, University of California.

The first winter was especially hard. The Armenian people suffered greatly. Hovannissian notes: "The chaotic situation in Armenia was intensified by the presence of approximately 500,000 refugees."(P126) This number is confirmed by reports of American and British officials as well as by relief workers.

Hovannissian continues: "These figures do not include the additional thousands who had found temporary sanctuary in Zangezura and Karabagh, Georgia, the North Caucasus and the steppe lands of Russia.”(P127) In addition, this number did not include the many thousands of Armenian refugees in the Arab world.

Again, the Armenian numbers do not add up. If 1 million Armenians were removed from the Ottoman combat zones -- if 500,000 went to Armenia, if there were additional many thousands of Armenian refugees in other places, if thousands of Armenian women were taken into Muslim households — just how can Armenians claim genocide of 1.5 million of their people? Based on Armenian history Professor Richard G. Hovannissian’s numbers, the alleged 1.5 million Armenian genocide just could not have happened.

The actual facts do prove the Armenian people suffered unimaginable horror; thanks to the selfish decisions made by their leaders in starting: a civil war in the Ottoman Empire; an attempt to start a civil war in Georgia; and an attempt to begin a civil war in Azerbaijan.

This was the true genocide of the Armenian people, that caused by their own dictator leaders.

Hovannissian reports the terror experienced by the Armenian people:

The winter of 1918-19 was one of the longest and most severe in the annals of Erevan. The homeless masses, lacking food, clothing, and medicine, passed hellish months in blizzard conditions. The starving people sometimes demonstrated or rioted for food, but these sporadic outbursts were to no avail. The state granaries were empty. Allied officials who came to Erevan brought hope that before too long provisions would begin to arrive from abroad. Until that time the nation must persevere. But soon even this hope faded. An American eyewitness, overwhelmed by the misery, wrote: ‘A terrible population. Unspeakably filthy and tatterdemalion throngs; shelterless, death-stricken throngs milling from place to place; children crying aloud; women sobbing in broken inarticulate lamentation; men utterly hopeless and reduced to staggering weakness, heedless of the tears rolling down their dirt-streaked faces. As a picture of the Armenians most in evidence in Armenia I can think of nothing better than this, unless I turn to other kinds of mobs: Large numbers here and there, wide-eyed, eager hands outstretched in wolfish supplication; teeth bared in a ghastly grin that had long since ceased to be a smile — an emaciated, skin-stretched grin, fixed and uncontrollable.

The pitiful multitude lay in the snow, in partially destrayed buildings, on doorsteps of churches, eventually too weak to protest or even to beg any longer They lived in the land of stalking death; waiting with sunken face and swollen belly for the touch of that angel. And death came, delivering from anguish thousands upon thousands of refugees and native inhabitants alike.

Many who withstood the exposure and famine succumbed to the ravaging diseases that infested the derelict masses. Typhus was the major killer striking in every district and at every age group, taking its largest toll among the children. The phenomenon of death came to be both expected and accepted. The insensible bodies were gathered from the streets by the hundreds each week and covered in mass graves, often without mourner or final rites... that year in the capital alone some 19,000 people contracted the disease and nearly 10,000 died from the three-headed monster-exposure, famine, pestilence. (P127-128)

This was the true genocide of the Armenian people, that caused by their own dictator leaders. It was the self-appointed Armenian leaders who began the rebellion from within the Ottoman Empire that led to these terrible and horrible conditions.

"The burden of several hundred thousand unsheltered and unemployed refugees was enough in itself to cause an economic maelstrom. Even during normal times the land under the actual jur.

There is an Armenian Genocide(!)

It may be seen as a sentence that is written by mistake. The reason of this is the picture that is drawn our minds for long years in secret or willingly.

Beyond “our” persons’ and “intellectuals” betrayal who say Turks made a “genocide” by killing millions of Armenians, some countries’ describing the persons’ as a criminal who claims that there isn’t a genocide, force us to accept this “shame(!)”

At this situation, we wonder some facts and wait a voice: Where are our authorities? Why do they stay quiet? Especially in such a time that the persons’ who should be quiet, are speaking everywhere.

Although the dogs are allowed and the stones are tied, our tongue is rotating. With the thought that we have the right of speaking about the subject as a member of Turkish nation, we will speak and give some examples about “Armenian Genocide.”

I say that “there is an Armenian Genocide.” Yes, there is a “genocide.” The nearest sample of this was demonstrated by Armenians in Hodjali in the end of 20th century by looking into the eyes of countries that define themselves as modern, democrat and respectful to human rights.

After this event many families divided, many man died and a lot of people became immigrant. The doers of this event were the Armenians who are in the role of oppressed today. Well, how the events came to this point? First, we will inspect this and put the historical rights into your consideration.

In 20th February 1985, Mountainous Qarabag Autonomous Soviet ( 110 of its 140 members are Armenian) applied to Azerbaijan and Armenia High Soviets with the desire of combining with Armenia by seperating. The Central Committee of USSR Comunist Party got together and rejected their application.

As a result of two Azerbaijan Turks being killed in the Askaran stated in Mountainous Qarabag Autonomous Region of Azerbaijan, Armenian’s publishing the claims related to Gorbacov’s promise about giving the Qarabag to them, mass killings of approximately 100 thousands of Azerbaijan Turks living in Armenia (Zenzegur, Goyce and so on) and being forced to immigrate (at the end of the process 160 thousand of Azerbaijan Turks had to leave the Armenia) and these immigrants being settled in Sumgayıt and Bakı, there occurred some incidents. In the incidents that take place in Sumgayıt, 6 Azerbaijan Turks and 26 Armenians died.

In 2nd January 1990 in Hankendi, the center of Autonomous Region of Mountanious Qarabag, the bus carrying the Azerbaijan Turks were attacked by Armenians. Security guards stopped the attack but 1 person died in the incident.

In the Armenians’ attack to two Turkish settlement in Qarabag, 12 Turks died and 22 of them were pledged.

In 13th January an Armenian attacked two Azerbaijan Turks with an axe. One of them died and the other fatally injured. After this news had heard by a lot of people who was helding a protest at that time, a counter attack was held. At that attack 34 people died. Most of them were Armenians. The Moscow declared martial law in Bakı and some other regions of Azerbaijan (including Mountainous Qarabag).

Between 22nd and 26th January 1992, the attack held by Armenians to Hodjali became a mass killing. In this attack approximately 600 people died. 63 of them were children, 106 of them were women and 70 of them were old people. Also 487 people were taken by Armenians as pledge, 1275 people injured and no news can be taken from 150 people.

Azerbaijan officially stated that 366th Russian Battalion actively took place in the attack. This incident showed us the historical relation of Armenians and Russians.

It also showed us how Armenians might behave in order to fulfill their aims and how bloody politics they can follow.

It is the visible sight of the iceberg. When we ask the questions about the end of the Turks who had lived in the Erivan until 1900s, about the mass killings of Turks in Erzurum, Kars, Iğdır and when the Turks that were buried into mass graves bring out we could see the unvisible sights of the iceberg. This will help us to understand who tried to made a genocide.

History witnessed this genocide attempt at the end of 20th century. Documents are there. Witnesses are there. Mass graves are there. Women, children, men, old people are there. Their bodies which were cut when they were alive are there. The bodies of the baby whose head were used to play football are there. There isn’t anywhere to escape. Also there isn’t anybody that can escape. For this reason we should do some things:

1- Hodjali should be called as Genocide by the Parliament of Azerbaijan
2- Hodjali should be approved as a Genocide by Turkish Parliament
3- Robert Kocaryan who gave the killing order should be judged as a war criminal.

We should do these. At least, in order to write down a note to history.

Armenakan, Hunchaks and Dashnaktsutiun: Revolutionary Parties; T

Kategori: English , Tarih

Theater curtain from an Armenian school in eastern Anatolia showing the revolutionary Hunchaks, Habete Tavekelian and Kalust Andrassian. Terrorists such as these prepared the ambitious, carefully planned . rebellion of Van", which was supposed to rouse world opinion once again against the "atrocities of the Turks". Money was needed for this purpose, lots of money, and the abbot of the monastery of Aghtamar in Lake Van was expected to contribute his share. He refused to pay tribute to the terrorists because he felt that the Armenians had a good fife within the Ottoman Empire. Consequently, he and his secretary were murdered. The terrorists quartered their bodies and threw them into the lake. Abbot Boghos' successor willingly paid the sum demanded. One year later, in June of 1896, the revolt of Van erupted. It was a bloody preview of the tragedy of 1915, when the terrorists wiped out the entire population of the Islamic part of town.

The banner of the Dashnaktsutiun with the two legends "Revolu. tionary Committee of the Armenian Dashnaktsutiun" and "Freedom or Death". Heavily armed Dashnaks are seen coming from Ararat, and the bomb exploding in the foreground symbolizes the .work" of the revolutionary groups of the Ottoman Empire. This Picture was published in Ceneva in 1909.

Armenian Extremism:Its Causes and Its Historical Context

Armenakan, Hunchaks and Dashnaktsutiun: Revolutionary Parties; Terror as Metho. Nationalism Spreads From the Church to Secular Organizations

The first political party of the Armenian minority to attain any significance was the "Armenakan- Party. Founded in Van in the autumn of 1885, the party was organized along European lines and had its own publication.

The mastermind behind this thoroughly revolutionary organization was the son of a tremendously wealthy banker from Constantinople. His name was Mekertich Portukalian. After running into many difficulties with schools that he had established in Van, he emigrated to Marseilles, and from then on he directed his party from there. He also published a periodical in Marseilles, called "Armenia". His objective was to rouse enthusiasm for an Armenian state among the Armenians who were scattered across Europe. The response came in the form of an "Armenian Patriotic Society", which raised money and bought arms and munitions.

Their aim was to "win for the Armenians the right to rule over themselves, through 'revolution." The members of the Armenakan in Van and the surrounding area were equipped with the most modem weapons and trained in the art of guerilla warfare and in "preparing the people for a general movement" with due consideration given to the support "of friendly great powers". Soon, the Armenakan had revolutionary cells in Trabzon and Constantinople, as well its cadres in Russia, Persia, and the United States.

According to the pro-Armenian historian Christopher Walker, the "enlightenment developed by Portukalian" was soon lost in the "sterile brutality" of the Armenian terrorist scene.

In 1887, Armenians in Geneva founded the first Armenian party emphasizing Marxist principles. Their symbol was the bell ( "hnshak" = bell). The Hunchaks drew their membership almost entirely from Russian Armenians, who gave the party the militant-revolutionary spirit that comes from the Caucasus (the young Dzhugashvili, commonly known as Stalin, also came from the world.) The party organ was called Hunchak, and in 1890 the group adopted the name "Hunchakian Revolutionary Party", or "Hunchaks" for short. Their leader was the fanatical revolutionary Avetis Nazarbekian. He was reportedly "dark, slender, very handsome in an oriental style, and played the violin excellently". He also saw "revolutionary terror" as the natural consequence of rejecting "capitalist" legislation.

Finally, the "Federation of Armenian Revolutionaries", the "Hai Hegapokhakanneri Dashnaktsutiun", appeared as a result of the need for an umbrella organization for all the little terrorist groups and revolutionary cells. The goal of the organization was (and is) to win Armenian independence by means of a people's war. Many groups shunned this common umbrella from the start, however,

so the Dashnaks changed their name to "Hai Hegapokhakan Dashnaktsutiun" - "Armenian Revolutionary Federation". This name is still used by the Dashnaks today.

In the nineteenth century, some Protestant-Armenian pastors had fought bitterly with the Gregorian priests over who the best nationalist shepherds were. Now, two political groups, the Dashnaks and the Hunchaks were competing for the favor of the Armenians in the same way. The Hunchaks stressed their socialist convictions where as the Dasknaks put more emphasis on their nationalist views. Together, they produce exactly the same fanatically distorted, national-socialist worldview as other organizations with the same ideological persuasions.

The Dashnaks in particular used brutal terrorism again and again as a political means to accomplish their ends. They have been responsible for numerous attacks, including some very recent ones. Their activities are financed largely by means of intimidation and extortion.

One of the ugliest attacks of the Dashnak organization was the assassination attempt on Sultan Abdul Hamid. The Armenian politician K. Papazian, author of the book Patriotism Perverted (Boston, 1934), writes that "the attempt of the life of Abdul Hamid in 1905 constitutes the last episode of the revolutionary attempts of the A. R. Federation" to achieve political goals by means of assassinations. Since the attempt failed, its consequences were merely unpleasant. The bombs went off too soon because the Sultan spent too much time talking to Sheik ul Islam after his visit to the Yildiz Mosque. The Sultan's pardon of assailants was futile. The troublemakers just turned to plotting flashy uprising in order to attract European attention.

Khojali Genocide Xocal Soyqırımı Hocalı Soykırımı

XOCALI FACİƏSİ

Xocalı rayonunun əhalisi əsasən üzümçülüklə, bağçılıqla, tərəvəzçiliklə məşğul olur, becərdikləri məhsulları Şuşa və Xankəndi şəhələrində satıb dolanırdılar.

1988- cil ildən sonra Azərbaycan höküməti Xocalının strateji mövqeyini nəzərə alaraq, buranın inkişaf etdirilməsi üçün tədbirlər gördü, qəsəbəyə şəhər adı verildi, Xocalı aereportu nəzarətə götürüldü. Xocalıda yeni İctimai və yaşayış binaları tikildi, yeni sənaye müəssisələri yaradıldı.
Lakin 1991- ci ilin sonunda Xocalının Ağdamla əlaqəsi kəsildi. Ermənilər və onlara himayədarlıq edən rus hərbiçiləri Xocalını hər bir tərəfdən mühasirəyə aldılar.
1992- ci il fevralın 25- dən 26- a keçən gecə Xankəndinə toplanmış erməni quldur dəstələri orada olan 366- cı motoatıcı polkun canlı qüvvəsi və texnikasının köməyi ilə Xocalıya hücuma keçdilər. Onu qeyd etməliyəm ki, 366- cı motoatıcı polk 1984- cü ilin payızında Gəncədən gətirilib Xankəndində yerləşdirilmişdi. Son illər polkda 600 nəfər əsgər, 129 zabit xidmət edirdi ki, bu zabitlərin 49 nəfəri erməni idi. 366- cı polkun hərbi texnikasından dəfələrlə Şuşa şəhərinin atəşə tutulmasında istifadə edilmişdi. 1992- ci ilin dəhşətli fevral gecəsi 11500 nəfərlik əhalisi olan Xocalı şəhəri yerlə yeksan edildi, 613 nəfər qəddarlıqla öldürüldü, (bunlardan 63 usaq, 106 qadin, 70 orta yasli insan idi. 8 aile tamamile mehv edildi. 25 usaq her iki valideynini, 103 usaq her iki valideynini itirdi)1275 nəfər əsir götürüldü, onların başına insanlığa yaraşmayan müsibətlər gətirildi.
Xocalı işğal olunduqdan sonra ermənilərin törətdikləri vəhşilikləri, dinc adamların, qadın, uşaq və qocaların başına gətirdikləri dəhşətləri görmüş, zabit vicdanın hökmü ilə bunları qələmə alıb Moskvaya, Bakıya, BMT- yə göndərmiş, Xankəndində yerləşən 02270 nömrəli Hərbi hissənin xüsusi şöbəsinin rəisi, polkovnik Vladimir Savelyevin 19 səhifəlik məlumatından aşağıdakıları oxuculara çatdırmaq istəyirəm. “Xocalıya hücümda 366- cı Rus polkunun əsgər və zabitləri ilə birlikdə erməni terrorçu təşkilatı olan “ASALA”- nın mayoru Aşın Simonyanın başçılığı ilə 26 nəfərlik dəstə də iştirak edib.” V. Savelyev qeyd edir ki, A. Simonyanın bu dəstəsi Paris yaxınlığında təlim keşdikdən sonra Xankəndinə gətirilmişdi. A.Simonyanın 366-cı polkun komandiri Yuri Zarviqorova o zaman üçün böyük məbləğ olan 36.000 ABŞ doları verərək, 366-cı polkun hərbi texnikasının 85%- ni ələ keçirmişdi. Bu məlumatlardan belə aydın olur ki, Xocalıya hücümda “ASALA”- nın Suriyadan və Livandan gəlmiş dəstələri də iştirak etmişlər. Xocalı məhv edildikdən sonra hücumda fərqlənmiş 24 nəgər rus əsgər və zabiti mükafatlandırıldı. “ASALA” yazılmış 25 qramlıq qızıl orden və 5.000 ABŞ dolları, S.İvanova 10.000 ABŞ dolları, “Hunday” maşının açarını verdi. Xocalı faciyəsinin bütün dəhşətlərini gözləri ilə görmüş rus kəşfiyyatının zabiti V.Savelyev yazır: “ Mən bunları yazmaya bilmərəm. Hər şey gözlərimin önündə baş verib. Insanların, uşaq və qadınların, hamilə gəlinlərin güllələnmiş bədənlərini unuda bilmirəm. Qoy azərbaycanlılar məni bağışlasınlar ki, bu qanlı amansız sonluğu olan hadisələrdə əlimdən heç nə gəlmirdi: Mən gördüklərimi yazıb 19 səhifəlik “Məxfi arayış” Kremlə Müdafiə Nazirliyinə, Bakıya göndərdim. Oxuyun dedim. Biz rusların zabit şərəfi görün necə ləkələndi. “
Xocalı faciəsini bütün dünyaya çatdıran mərhum jurnalist Çingiz Mustafayevin çəkdiyi lentlər oldu. Onun fədakarlığı sayəsində dünya ictimaiyyəti burnu, qulağı kəsilmiş baş və alın dərisi soyulmuş uşaqları, qadınları, qocaları gördülər.

HOCALI SOYKIRIMI

THE TRAGEDY OF THE 20TH CENTURY

"The Khojali genocide with its inconceivable
cruelty and inhuman punitive methods,
was completely targeted against the people
of Azerbaijan and represents a barbarian act
in the history of humankind. At the same time,
this genocide was a historical crime against humanity."

Heydar Aliyev

The Khojali genocide is one of the most terrible and tragic pages of Azerbaijan history. Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev said in his speech addressed to the nation of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Khojali genocide: "This merciless and cruel genocide was the most dreadful mass terror act in the history of humankind." It should be mentioned that Azerbaijan has endured ethnic cleansing and genocide by Armenian nationalist-chauvinists for 200 years. The people of Azerbaijan were deported from their historical lands and became refugees and internally displaced persons because of Armenian occupation. Azerbaijanis were also forced from their historical lands during the Soviet period. 150,000 Azerbaijanis were deported from Armenia and placed in the Kur-Araz plain from1948-1953. 250,000 Azerbaijanis were forced from their historical territories in 1988 and Armenia became a mono-ethnical state. The Nagorny Karabakh events, which began in 1988 along with continuous efforts to implement the Armenian desire of building a state from sea to sea, led to the destruction of towns and villages, murder of thousands of innocent people, as well as the exile of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis from their native lands.

The Armenian government wanted to annex Nagorny Karabakh despite international legal norms and demonstrates their readiness to resort to any kind of crime and barbarism for the sake of its ideology. The Khojali genocide - the tragedy of the 20th century - was a result of this aggressive and criminal policy. This tragedy, which took place in the 20th century was one of the most serious crimes not only against the people of Azerbaijan, but humanity as a whole. The Khojali genocide is comparable to the genocides in Khatin, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Songmi. What was Armenians' purpose in Khojali? On one hand that was the liquidation of the strategic hindrance in the form of Azerbaijani residents of the mountainous part of Nagorny Kharabakh. On the other hand that was the razing of Khojali to the ground. Because Khojali was an inhabited place, which reflected the history and traditions of Azerbaijan since the ancient times. This distinct culture is classified as Khojali-Gadabay in the Azerbaijani history. Cromlechs, dolmens, Cyclops, tumuluses of Khojali, as well as different housing wares are the patterns of material culture that reflect the dynamics of social development.

The destruction of all these material culture monuments and Khojali graveyard - one of the most ancient cemeteries in history - after the Armenian occupation is are obvious examples of Armenian barbarism and aggression against the world culture. Armenian millitary forces commited genocides in the town of Khojali with the population of 7 thousand people on februrary 26 1992. There were 3 thousand people in the town at the time of Armenian millitary forces' attack. As most part of the population had to leave town during 4 months blockade. 613 people were killed, 1000 peaceful people of different age became invalid during Khojali genocide. 106 women, 63 children, 70 old men were killed. 8 families were completely annihilated, 130 children lost one parents, while 25 both of them. 1275 peace residents were taken hostages, the fate of 150 of them is still unknown.

All these were commited by Armeninan militaries with special mercilessness and inconceivable barbarism. 2nd battalion of 366th regiment under the command of Major Oganyan Seyran Mushegovich ("defence minister" of illegal regime in Nagorny Karabakh at present time), 3rd battalion under the command of Yevgeniy Nabokhin, staff chief of 1st battalion Chitchyan Valeriy and more than 50 officers and ensigns, serving in regiment took part in the attack. ("From the investigation materials concerning Khojali occupation").

A part of town residents, attempted to flee, were killed by Armeninans, waiting in the ambulshes. According to the Russian remidial centre "Мемориал", 200 corpses had been brought from Jodjali to Agdam for 4 days, tens of humiliation facts has been discovered on them. 181 corpses (130 men and 51 women) were made forensic medical examination in Aghdam. According to the examination 151 persons dead in result of bullet wound, 20 - missile wound, 10 people were killed with blunt instrument. Remidial centre discovered fact of scalping of alive man. Episodes of Khojali genocide terrify people.

Antiga, the resident of Khojali, was burned alive because she did not say "these places are part of Great Armenia". Khojali resident Sariya Talibova told: "heads of 4 meskhetis and 3 Azeris were cut off over Armenian grave. Then they extracted eyes of 2 Azeris". Armenians outraged upon survors. They scalped, cut people's head and other organs off, extracted eyes of children, choped stomaches of pregnant women.

Forbidden bullets of 5,45 calibre and chemical weapons were used in Khojali during the attack. All these facts prove that Armenia commited genocide against civil people, violating Geneva convention protokhol concerning war rules. Khojali genocide teriified jurnalist and publicists of russia, Georgia, Great Britain, France, Germany, the USA etc. Khojali refugees write in their address to the UN, European Union, Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe: It is already more than 10 years as we, persons become refeeges, appeal with heavy art and large hope to peaceful nations of the world, international organisations.

We ask you not to remain indifferent about disaster, happened with us in result of Armenian agression. We believe that authorative international organisations like the UN, EU and OSCE, peaceful states will take measures against agression and tyranny of Armenia. International conventions, laws, passed in the world, criticize genocides like Khojali tragedy and call them inadmissible. Azerbaijan nation has all legal base to bring suit against the Armenian republic in the International court of the UN, guiding by convention "Warning and punishment of genocide crime". The world must know this crime directed not only against Azerbaijan nation, but also whole civilized world, mankind.

Persons like Seyran Ohanyan, Serj Sarkisyan, as well as Robert Kocharyan, holding high state posts at present, and others must answer before international court. The crime should not remained without punishment. Armenian millitary-political agression must be condemned by world community. International organizations, parlaments of the world states must give political-legal appraisal of Khojali genocide - millitary crime, commited by the Armenian Republic in the Azerbaijan territories.

Karabakh Qarabağ Karabağ

Karabakh Qarabağ Karabağ

Encroachment of Armenia against Azerbaijan and historical roots of war of conquest make it necessary to take into account some matters of Armenian history. This policy of aggression is in the essence of the history of Armenia. Claims of Armenians against Azerbaijan as wel as Nagorno Karabakh is the integral part of their strategical plans that was directed to establesh “Great Armenia”. That was why, Armenians being true to their “traditions” always began to fight for to realize this plan as there appeared auspicious conditions. When M.S.Gorbachov who is great supporter of armenians came to the power in USSR in 1985 armenian separatists became active for the next time. First of all, M.S.Gorbochov estranged Haydar Aliyev who was the most powerful obstacle for him, from Political Bureau for to carry out the secret plan connected with Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region. Later on, in November, 1987 armenian acedemician A.Agenbekyan who was in the team of Gorbachov, stated that he proposed a motion to Soviet government about Nagorno Karabakh in Paris and he hoped that this problem would be solved in the conditions of democracy and reconstruction. Armenian “Karabakh committee” that acted secretly before and its separatist – terrorist
organization “Krunk” (Durna) in Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region began to act openly, “Miatsum” (Birləşmə) movement was formed. This movement relied on Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region, Moscow government, USSR and on the potential of world armenains. Events took a more aggressive course in February, 1988. Waves of minitings of seoaratists and armenian shovinists in Yerevan and Stepanakert began in February. On February 20 Session of soviet of Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region applied to Azerbaijan SSR Higher Soviet for to hear the question about the status of the region.
The government of Azerbaijan and general public were unprepared before the new tactics of Armenian separatists and their supporters. Execution of two Azerbaijani youths by Armenian separatists-terrorists in Asgaran region on February24, wounding of 19 persons did not complete with the preparation of considered political line against plans of Armenians. At the end of February considered conspiracies were carried out in the big industrial city of Azerbaijan – Sumgayit by special Armenian service organs and USSR State Security Services. Later on the reason of Sumgayit events was clear. As it was planned previously, immediately after this event it was used against Azerbaijanis living in Armenia and for to separate Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region from the composition of Azerbaijan SSR. 4 inhabitants of Mehmandarov village belonging to Azerbaijanis, situating in the south from Yerevan were killed on March 10. On March 25 more than 100 houses were plundered and burnt and population was banished in the Azerbaijani villages of Ararat region. In the middle of March new attacks were made to Azerbaijani villages near Yerevan. Armenian savageries and genocides that were repeated over and again against Azerbaijanis in the history began to raise a mutiny. Baku was chosen a main target. Soviet government violated its constitution obligations and carried out bloody slaughters at the night of 19-20 January, 1990 in Baku city by bringing troop contingent armed with modern technics and arms into the town. Armenian soldiers and officers were used widely as lively forces in Baku slaughter. With the disintegration of USSR at the end of 1990 new geopolitical condition arose. Armenia start
ed open and unjust war against Azerbaijan. Military amalgamations of Armenia entered Karabakh by breaking the borders and started the occupation of Azerbaijan lands by uniting with Armenian separatists-terrorists of Nagorno Karabakh.

OCCUPATION
As a result of military aggression of the Republic of Armenia the territory of Nagorno Karabakh of Azerbaijan Republic and 7 administrative regions near it were occupied.

Azerbaijan territories that were occupied in 1988-93:

• Nagorno Karabakh: Date of occupation – 1988-1993, territory 4400 km2 (Shusha, Khankendi, Khojali, Asgaran, Khojavand, Aghdara, Hadrut);

Lachin region: Date of occupation – May 18, 1992, territory 1875 km2;
• Kalbajar region: Date of occupation – April 2, territory 1936 km2;
• Aghdam region: Date of occupation – July 23, 1993 territory 1154 km2;
• Jabrayil region: Date of occupation – August 23, territory 1050 km2;
• Fuzuly region: Date of occupation – August 23, territory 1112 km2;
• Gubadli region: Date of occupation – August 31, territory 826 km2;
• Zangilan region: Date of occupation – October 30, territory 707 km2;

RESULTS OF THE OCCUPATION

As a result of military aggression of Armenia, 20 % of Azerbaijan territories were occupied, more than 20 thousand people were killed, and more than 50 thousand people were wounded and became crippled. More than one million people were the victim of ethnic cleaning and genocide policy of Armenia against Azerbaijanis living in the state of refugee and forced migration for more than ten years and were deprived of their elementary human rights.

As a result of occupation, more than 900 hundred settlements were plundered, burnet and destroyed, 6 thousand industrial, agricultural institutions and other objects were destructed, 150 thousand dwelling buildings general living space of which is 9 mln m2, were destroyed, 4366 social cultural object, as well as 695 medical centers were destroyed. Agricultural fields, hydro economy, hydro technical installations, all transport and communication lines were destructed completely. Destructions inflicted more than 60 billion USD damage to economy. 927 libraries, 464 historical monuments and museums, 100 archeological monuments, 6 state theatres and concert studios were destroyed in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan during the military aggression. More than 40 thousand valuable things and rare exhibits were stolen from the plundered museums. That is, when Kalbajar historical ethnographical museum was destroyed rare golden and silver adornments that were included in to the exposition of the museum, carpets weaved in the last centuries were carried to Armenia. The Museum of History in Shusha, the Museum of Bread in Aghdam, and the Museum of Stone Monuments in Zangilan had the same fortune. It is impossible to determine the value stolen and destroyed historical-cultural wealth.

In spite of recognition of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan Republic and demands of releasing of occupied Azerbaijan territories unconditionally in sentences 822, 853, 874, 884 of Security Council of United Nations Organizations, the Republic of Armenia still continues its aggressive policy.

THE GENOCIDE OF KHOJALI

One of the black pages of aggressive policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan people is connected with the name of Khojali. The name of Khojali is in the same list with bloody genocides such as Khatin, Lidisa, Oradur in XX century. Armed forces of Armenia, Armenian armed groups in the territory of Nagorno Karabakh of Azerbaijan carried out the policy of genocide against Azerbaijan people by occupying Khojali city situating between Khankandi and Asgaran, with the participation of personnel staff and techniques of 366th motor rifle regiment of USSR locating in Khankendi. 613 persons as well as 63 children, 106 women, 70 old men were killed ruthlessly, the heads of the people were cut off, eyes were pulled out, bellies of pregnant women were riddled with the bayonet during the occupation of Khojali at a night. 2nd battalion of 366th regiment under the command of Oganyan Seyran Mushegovich (Seyran oganyan is the “minister of defense” of illegal regime of Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh at the present moment), 3rd battalion under the command of Yevgeni Nabokikh, chief of staff of battalion number 1 Chitchyan Valeriy Isayevich and more than 50 Armenian officers and ensigns took part in the attack. A part of population of the town was killed in the ambushes made beforehand, when they wanted to escape from violence. In accordance with the information of “Memorial” juridical security center of Russia, 200 corpses of killed Azerbaijanis were brought to Aghdam from Khojali, and the fact of humiliation of tens of dead bodies was known. 181 corpses (130 men and 51 women, as well as 13 children) were passed forensic medical examination. It was determined during examination that 151 people died of bullet wounds, 20 people died of shrapnel wound but 10 people were killed by striking with blunt implements. The center of law-defense noted the fact of striping the skin of the head of living man. Breasts of the children that were killed by Armenians were cut and their hearts were tore, most of the corpses were tore to pieces.

ARMENIAN SAVAGERIES

Savageries of Armenians do not finish with that. The facts that were collected at the State Commission upon the captive and missing citizens and people who were taken as a hostage proves the fact that the Republic of Armenia tramples on the norms of international law in its attitude to Azerbaijan, at the same time violated the requirements of 1949 Geneva Convention “about the defense of the victims of a war” such as to attempt upon somebody’s life and personality, to kill in any situation, to cripple, to treat cruelly or torture and to offend to somebody’s dignity. Killing of quiet people, undergoing of the terrible tortures and torments, killing by ruthless treatment and humiliation of the dignity, murdering cold-bloodedly or dieing as a result of terrible tortures during the military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan are the visual proof to what we have said. Armenian armed forces shot nearly 80 people of 117 that were taken a hostage in Garadaghli village, just on the spot during the occupation of Khojavand region. The inhabitant of Garadaghli village, Khojavand region Hagigat Yusif gizi Huseynova witnessed to the burning alive of 10 of her fellow-villagers in February, 1992. On April 1, 1993, during large scale attack of Armenians to Kalbajar region, staff radio station (“QSM-7”) of Armenia in Vardenis region ordered head radio station in the fighting area in Kalbajar (“Uragan”) for to inform all itinerant radio stations. It was demanded to kill and bury Azerbaijani citizens immediately in the order. They were able to conceal the tracks of savageries carried out against Azerbaijanis from international representatives and journalist that came to the territory at that time. The text of radio speech of commanders of Armenian military units was recorded by radio reconnaissance service of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan Republic on April 6-7, 1993. 15 inhabitants of Bashlibel village were killed just on the spot by Armenians during the occupation of Kalbajar region. The humerus of Shovgi Khagani oglu Aliyev who was 3 years old when he was captivated (24.07.1993), was pulled out by Armenian “doctor” and consequently Shovgi was crippled for life. Armenian doctor Aida Serobyan gave injections of unknown composition to new born son of Guljamal Guliyeva who was captivated during the occupation of Kalbajar region (31.03.1993) Arzu Hajiyev and consequently Arzu Hajiyev remained crippled for life. Babek Ilyasov was only seven months when Armenians shot his mother Afet Mirzayeva and his grandfather Aslan Mirzayev savagely. Splinters wounded Babek’s right eye but instead of that Armenians released him only with his other captivated fellow-villagers only after four months and without treating. At the present moment Babek is blind in one eye. Armenians tortured 15 years old Nazakat Mammadova’s father before her eyes, cut off his ears, her mother run mad as she could not bear threats and blackmails and they sold the girl for 4 million Russian rubl to her family. When Zamina Goyush gizi Dadashova was captivated by Armenians bullet wound on her hand festered and decay process started in her body. At the present moment her right hand doesn’t work. Armenians shot her father Goyush Dadashov and old grandfather Goncha Ibadova just on the spot during captivating them. Armenian inspectors tortured Kaklik Hasanova who was captivated in Aghdam region pulled out her 16 teeth with nail tongs. They pulled out 8 golden teeth of Shargiyya Rza gizi Shirinovaq who was captivated during the occupation of Aghdam region with nail tongs. She had tortured for six months. 65 years old Binish Rasul gizi Mammadova and 69 years old Sara Mirish gizi Ismayilova were captivated during the occupation of Gubadli region and were kept in Khankendi military unit. Here they were made to work in heavy physical works at daytimes and at nights they were beaten savagely. Women by name Shahsenem and Asli who were kept together with them could not bear the tortures and died at the captivity. The former inhabitant of Aghdam region Vladimir Ivanovich Shevelyov who nationally is Russian and who was tortured by Armenians said that his 89 years old mother Vera Davidovna and old sister Svetlana Ivanovna, as well as his 58 years old sick brother Anotoli Ivonovich were beaten savagely by Armenians and burnt and saw a great number of corpses of women and children near Aghdam canal during the occupation of Aghdam region in 1994. Beside that he adds that Armenians captivated 7 mad men and 2 sick women who were kept at the mental hospital during the occupation of Aghdam region. in occupied Azerbaijani district Aghdam.

Declaration of Azerbaijani Historians

Armenians trying to justify their territorial clams to Azerbaijan Republic for Daghlig Garabagh have undertaken to make a new falsification. This time the Armenian “historians” have developed a noisy campaign about revealed ruins of the city Tigranakert , ostensibly capital of invented “Great Armenia” not far from the occupied Azerbaijani district Aghdam. Such invented data are being published in different foreign countries” press.
Among the foreign scientists and journalists there are people who has stated a correct estimation of the Armenian falsification. So, Polish scientist Vojtseh Pastushka with suspicion having considered to opinion on existence of Tigranakert in this territory , has fairly noticed that this idea persues political aims of the Armenian , and the afore-mentioned excavations “are not archaeologic , but political” .
In connection with the aforesaid the Azerbaijani historians state resolutely :
“Any Armenian settlement have not found yet neither in mountainous , nor in plain parts of Azerbaijani Garabagh region rich with archaeological monuments which have been investigated well enough!”.
By the way , similar “finds” of the so called “Armenian scientists alternately “shocking ” world community , are not something new . Scientists of the world well remember, that during Soviet Union the “Armenian scientists” have lifted for the whole world a sensation about ostensibly found in Metsamor coins where “the Armenian hieroglyphs ” have been on and which was considered as the first coins in the world.
At that time, i.e. in the beginning XX century academician V.V.Piotrovsky has exposet the Armenian scientist , trying “to appropriate” to itself Arabian coins in the journal of their own (historico - philological), and has opened their true person before world community.
We could increase sufficiently examples of the Armenian lies and falsifications of this sort.
The false data specified in Polish scientist Vojtseh Pastushka”s remarks on revealing ostensibly sites of the city of Tigranakert concerns such fictions , i.e. is the next Armenian falsification.
We ,the Azerbaijani historians , having indisputable facts , with the full responsibility declare: In the process of archaeological excavations having lasted for more than a hundred year in territory of Daghlig Garabagh neither in mountainous , nor in plain parts of it was revealed any ancient Armenian settlements , necropolises , fortress , ect.
As a result of archaeological excavations have been carried on during tens of years by the Azerbaijani archeologists cave parking of a Paleolithic epoch – Azikh ,Taghlar and Zar , of a Eneolithic period –Khalaghantapa, Leylatepe and other monuments of the period of early Bronze Age – Chankandi, Uchoglan, Goytapa, Garahajily, monuments of the period of Middle and Late Bronze – Uzarliktapa, Khojaly, Dovshanly, Akhmakhi, Sirkhavand, Sarichoban, Garabulag, as well as monuments of the period of antique and early Middle Ages Govurgala and a great deal of other monuments have been revealed in the territory of Garabagh.
World scientific community, the Armenian scientists as well unequivocally recognize belonging of these historical monuments to ancient inhabitants of Azerbaijan.
Archaeologists of the world (as well as the Armenian archeologists) are quite aware of the matter, that the archaeological excavations in the territory of Garabagh have begun since second half of the XIX century. Up to the Soviet authority archeological excavations in the given area were conducted by teacher A.A.Ivanovsky.
In the 60-70s of the XX century archeological excavations in Garabagh have been carried out in Garabagh by M.M.Huseinov, G.S.Ismayilzade, I.H>Narimanov , A.B.Nuriyev, R.B.Goyushov, N.F.Jafarov and other prominent Azerbaijani archaeologists. The most thorough data about the ancient history of Garabagh have been concentrated just in the works of these scientist. (See:R.B.Goyushov. Christianity in the Caucasian Albania. Baki – 1984:M.M.Huseinov.The ancient agricultural and cattle breeding population of Azerbaijan. Baki – 1987:G.S.Ismayilov. Traces of the ancient culture in the valleys of Guruchay and Kondalanchay Baki – 1981; N.F.Jafarov by the end of the IV millennium B.C – at the beginning of the I millennium B.C Baki – 2000; A.Nuruyev, A.Babayev. Historico – archeological sketches of the city Barda. Baki – 2001 ect.).
As to the Aghdam district of Azerbaijan, the settlement Uzarliktapa enclosed with fortifications taking place on the suburbs of the town Aghdam and concerning to the first half of the II millennium B.C has been investigated by the Azerbaijani scientists (The period of Middle Bronze).Besides by the Azerbaijani archeologists have been investigated in the territory of Aghdam – Shikhbabaly and Papravand – settlements enclosed with majestic fortifications and concerning to XII – IX centuries B.C.
These monuments testify to formation of early culture in Azerbaijan, particularly in Garabagh and concern to the historical past of the Azerbaijani people.
Alongside with it under the initiative of several generations of the Azerbaijani archaeologists in Garabagh have been investigated and finished with world scientific community Guruchay culture (the period of a paleolith), Leylatapa culture (the period of a eneolith), Kur – Araz culture (the period of a early bronze), Uzarlik culture (the period of a middle bronze ), Khojaly – Gadabay culture (the period of a late bronze – early Iron), as well as hundreds of historical monuments of the period of antiquity and the Middle Ages. The world archeology for a long time knows, that all these monuments concern just historical past of Azerbaijani people and have no any relation of Armenians.
We would like to bring another, and clear as a day, but a bitter truth to the notice of the Armenian “historians”. First , in the exiting written sources there are no data on a presence of the grounds of Daghlig Garabagh (Mountainous or Plain) in structure of the short – term state founded by Tigran. Only this fact proves that creation of any settlement by him in this area also was impossible. Second, in primary sources and in historical literature (including the works of the Armenian scientists) the site of the city Tigranakert is given precisely enough. In other words, the historical territory of the site of the city Tigranakert for a long time is known fact, or from political interests pretends, that do not see, have no respect for science and the scientific community or to put it mildly make a scientific crime.
We shall result some examples. Tigran “s contemporary, the Greek geographer Strabon wrote that: “…Not far from Iberia, between this places and Zevgma on the Euphrates Tigran has constructed city. He has moved here the population of 12 Greek towns pillaged by him, and has named the town Tigranakert. However Lucull who was waging war with Mitridat at that time has arrived there even before the construction of the town. Lucull not only has released the town population to leave for their native places but also has destroyed the town constructed up to a half, having left on its place only a small settlement. (Strabon. Geography. Translated by G.A.Stranovski. Publishing House “Nauka” (Science). 1986. XI. 14,15).
Apparently, Strabon confirms that the city where construction has not come to the end yet, was not also traces of Armenian. In other words, the city of Tigranakert which wanted to prove far from Azerbaijan was not Armenian. Plutarkh also asserts the fact, that population of Tigranakert has consisted of the different peoples coercively moved here from various places. He writes about resettlement here Greeks (from Cilicia) and also assyrians, cappadokians and others whose native town was burnt. (Plutarkh. Selected autobiography. XXVI, Lucull). Plutarkh”s contemporary the Roman – Parphian wars in the Middle Ages of our era. He asserts about the arrangement of this city in Northern Mesopotomia (in a 37000 steps from it) near the city Nisibis, (Korneliy Tatsit. Works in 2 volumes. Vol 1. Annals. Leni8ngrad, 1969. Book 15, 5). Apparently from the resulted several facts the primary sources, the ancient historians well familiar with a history of Armenians, have placed the city of Tigranakert Mesopotomia, in a southwest of the lake Van.
Pertinently to note also, that on all maps on ancient history of the world the site of the city is placed in the same area. In the exiting historical literature, including the works belonging to Armenians the given historical true also finds the confirmation. So, in issued in 1980 under M.F.Nersesian”s edition to the book , the “History of the Armenian people since the most ancient times up to now” is marked that Tigranakert has been built on the bank of one of the top inflows of the river Tigris (p. 44). In volume 2 of “Ancient History”, published in 1989 under I.M.Diakanov”s and other known scientists” edition (p.391) Tigranakert is located just in this place. The same idea is marked in the numerous literature, data books, maps on ancient history.
All afore mentioned irrefutable historical facts clearly enough prove, that started up by Armenians in a circulation the data in press, about revealing ostensibly ruins of the city of Tigranakert in Garabagh area, is a product of ill imagination of Armenians and testifies to serious crisis experienced by the Armenian historiography. By the methods Armenians try “to prove” about existence in a history “the invented state of Great Armenia” and with the assistance of their traditional patrons to appropriate the another”s lands.
As if to the next invention of Armenians “about Tigranakert”, here the purpose is quite clear : Once again by falsification of a history to justify quite unreasonable claims of Armenians on Dagligh Garabagh which is an integral part of Azerbaijan!.
The Armenian aggressors instead of resorting to swindles not having any scientific basis, should understand that Azerbaijani people sooner or later will clear native Garabagh land of the invaders.Ferrux Aliyarov
